Tiger Woods - No.1 Golfer
“People don’t understand that when I grew up, I was never
the most talented, I was never the biggest, I was never the fastest, I
certainly was never the strongest. The only thing I had was my work ethic, and
that’s been what has gotten me this far.”

Introduction:
Tiger Woods is, after all, the current No.1 golfer in the
whole world and one of the most successful golfers of all time. He also has the
distinction of having earned the most in PGA Tour history. Over his career, he
has broken several golf records and has won 14 professional major golf
championships.
Tiger Woods is an American professional golfer from Cypress.
He ranks second in both major championships and PGA Tour wins and also holds
numerous records in golf. Woods is widely regarded as being one of the greatest
golfers in the history of the sport. As of 2020, Tiger Woods’ net worth is
estimated to be roughly $800 million.
Early Life:
Eldrick Tont Woods was born on the 30th of December, 1975,
in Cypress, California. He was nicknamed Tiger in honor of his father’s friend.
He has three half-siblings through his father’s previous marriage.
Woods is of mixed ancestry. His father was a Vietnam War
Veteran. He was introduced to golf when he was just two by his father who had himself
been an amateur golfer.
Career:
After becoming a professional golfer in 1996 he was
immediately offered deals with Nike, Inc., and Titleist as he had become famous
because of his collegiate career. He won the Masters, his first major
tournament in 1997.
He had a great start to the new millennium with six
consecutive wins in 2000. One of his victories for the year was the U.S. open
where he broke or equaled nine records.
The next two seasons were not that great for him. However,
his form returned in 2005 and he won six official PGA Tour money events. He
closed the 2006 season with 54 wins.
Woods was enthusiastically welcomed back to golf in 2009. He
did not disappoint his fans and performed well winning the 2009 Presidents Cup
with an amazing performance.
His sponsors canceled their contracts and his rankings also
fell. For the first time in his career, he could not win a single event.
In 2011 his dismal performances continued.
By 2013 he was back to his original form. He won the Farmers
Insurance Open in January and the WGC-Cadillac Championship in March. A win in
the Arnold Palmer Invitational re-established his position as the World No.1.
Inspiring Lessons:-
1. Never Give Up If you’re down and out you can’t give up.
You can’t give in. You have to dig down deep and gut it out to find the drive
to succeed. Find strong reasons why you must succeed and to commit to not
giving up until you succeed.
2. Let Doubt Fuel Your Mission Don’t let people who have
given up on their dreams make you give up on yours. Stay strong and let hate
fuel your fire to succeed.
3. Always Find Joy in Your Life Spend time with friends,
family, and the people who truly care about you. It’s okay to disconnect
somedays and recharge to have the energy to make your own comeback.
“The only thing you can do is take a learning experience
from it, positives and negatives, and apply them to the future. What did you do
right, what did you do wrong, and I did a lot of things right this week.”
“I thoroughly enjoy getting away from the game and going out
fishing because it’s so relaxing, so quiet and peaceful. I mean, there’s no
noise other than nature – and it’s so different from what I do in a tournament
situation that it just eases my mind.”
“Well, you know, a lot of people look at the negative
things, the things that they did wrong and – which I do. But I like to stress
on the things I did right because there are certain things that I like to look
at from a positive standpoint that is just positive reinforcement.”
“Everyone knows what the Masters is, even if you’re a
non-golfer. People know what Wimbledon is. They know what the Super Bowl is.
There are certain events that people just know about.”
